What is the Libertarian Left?

The Movement of the Libertarian Left was founded by the late Samuel Edward Konkin III and a number of fellow travelers. This page and the webring participants will begin expanding on that introduction Real Soon Now with links and possibly original content.

A discussion group

LeftLibertarian is a Yahoo! discussion group which serves as de facto headquarters of the Movement of the Libertarian Left. I figure they'll be pretty surprised when they find out this page exists. Then again, maybe not. Most left libertarians figure it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission, so I'm sure they'll understand.

Site Ring from Bravenet

Welcome to BLL!

This page is the very much under construction home site for the webring "Blogosphere of the Libertarian Left." Here in the main content area you'll find some webring code stuff and graphics for linking. Over in the right sidebars are links to the (again, under construction) FAQ and various resources of interest.

Code for BLL member sites

Bravenet sends new ring members a standard snippet of code for incorporating ring navigation into their sites. However, this code has a wide visual footprint, and most blogs are more vertically oriented, with permanent items in relatively narrow sidebars. I've created an alternative code snippet which displays 200 pixels wide, and which is user-modifiable for even narrower widths.

Here's what the standard Bravenet code looks like on display:

Blogosphere of the Libertarian Left
Ring Owner: Thomas Knapp  Site: Blogosphere of the Libertarian Left
Free Site Ring from Bravenet Free Site Ring from Bravenet Free Site Ring from Bravenet Free Site Ring from Bravenet Free Site Ring from Bravenet
Site Ring from Bravenet

Here's the code for the alternative version. The two variables which the user needs to fill in are the image URL (see "graphics for linking") and "siteid" (it's a five-digit number and can be found in the code sent by Bravenet). You can see what the alternative code looks like in implementation over in this site's right sidebar.

GRAPHICS FOR LINKING

Ring member sites might want to use the BLL logo (available below in three sizes) in their own customized ring link code. If your site is not a BLL site, but you'd like to link to this page or to the ring hub page, feel free to grab one as well. Bravenet doesn't allow hotlinking of images, so you'll need to save the chosen image to your own hard drive (right-click/save image as), upload it to your own server or image hosting account, and link it from there.
